accident in redwood city. she is on east bay shore road with more on what investigators are saying about what happened. >> well, this is the 1700 block of bay shore road right next to highway 101. let me give you a look at the scene because we had a lot of activity within the last 20 minutes or so. you can see all the way down there folks in reflective vests. that's the coroner that just arrived on scene just minutes ago. a mobile command unit with redwood city also is now here parked on the other end of this area because this is a very big accident scene. one vehicle involved in this. one person is dead. let me show you where the car ended up. it's right around the corner from where we are. it ended up in front of a public storage facility. it's about the length of a football field according to police i talked to this morning. it happened around 2:20. from what they can tell at this point, the driver was coming down bay shore road, hit a fire hydrant for some unknown reason, was ejected from the car and then, at that point, the car just continued to spin down the road a fair distance an

the traffic is not bad. there are no major problems get into the city. also the morning commute looks good if you are driving in san jose along northbound 280 getting up to highway 17. at 4:35 let's two to steve. >>> thank you, sal. a very good morning. about the same today. a little bit of patchy fog. yesterday increased from five to zone. i think we will see a similar pattern today. there is not much of a breeze. sore night lows are up a little bit. watch the clouds go up, up, enover. 30s on the temps or 40s. some of these temps. half-moon bay 41. san francisco 46. a lot of low 40s or 30s. yesterday was a little cooler for some of the inland area. we'll see if that continues to drop. patchy low clouds. but unless you are north or in the plains or in the deep south, there is hardly anything to talk about expect sunshine and mild weather. patchy low clouds in the morning. lots of sun. 60s on the temps. very close to yesterday's numbers. it will be warmer thursday into friday. still nice on saturday. cooler but dry on sunday. >>> we continue our coverage of accused murder christopher dorner

to figure out if there is a connection between bank robberies inside safeway stores in two different cities. someone robbed a u.s. bank in roanoke park around 10:30 yesterday morning. and then a u.s. bank in santa rosa was robbed. the suspect appears to be the same individual. he is described as latino. he also matches the description from a robbery at a chase bank in santa rosa two weeks ago. >>> santa clara man accused of having explosives and threatening a public official is making court appearance. they found weapons and bomb making materials at everett bashams home. they have been add his home around the clock since tuesday. he is also accused of sending a threatening e-mail to state senator. >> stated he was a trained sniper and his e-mail detailed in a specific way certain weapons that he possessed and exactly how he was going to kill me. >> yee says the threat will not prevent him from addressing issues surrounding gun violence and under scores the need to address the problem. those that received vouchers at marin county buy back will be able to retrieve them today. the district att

an interim leader. this afternoon students from city college of san francisco will hold a press conference. they plan to discuss whether their demands after last years sit in was met after spending a night in the schools administrative five of the students met with the schools interim chancellors. students demands include reversing cuts to classes and staff and holding town hall style meetings with students. >>> we are tracking over night news in roanoke park where a fire burned a vacant home. it's video you will see only on ktvu channel 2. they believe the fire started in a garage around 11:30 last night and spread to the home. you can see the huge flame there is. a lot of fire trucks as well. no one was hurt. investigators are look into the cause of the fire. eight families are out of their homes after a five story apartment building caught fire in san francisco. it happened just before noon yesterday on golden gate in the tenderloin neighborhood. photos from a ktvu viewer shows smoke coming out of the building. two police officers in the area saw the smoke and helped residents gets out
